everything you need to know about our new HydraFacial treatment

As the cooler Canadian weather creeps in, many of us have started ramping up our self-care routines. And if there's anything that the last few years have taught us, it's to expand our idea of what self-care really means. To us, it's looking beyond seeing facial treatments as a treat—they are just as part of our skin care routines as a deeply hydrating moisturizer and a protective SPF product.

Unsure of where to go and what to get? Dermalogica's wide range of skin care products and complimentary facial services have something for everyone—from quick 30 and 60-minute calming, brightening and firming treatments to advanced medical treatments like microneedling, dermaplaning, LED light therapy and more. For a truly customized experience today, book your free consultation with one of Dermalogica's licensed professional skin therapists.

We sat with Professional Skin Therapist, Nyssa Grays, to learn more about Dermalogica's newest facial treatment: The Hydrafacial.

to start, can you talk me through some of Dermalogica's facial offerings?

Over the past year or so, we've added many new treatments to help clients' skin concerns in an even more targeted way. We have recently introduced two new PRO Targeted treatments: The Pro Bright Skin Treatment and our Pro Calm Skin Treatment. Our Pro Bright maximizes Vitamin C absorption for the ultimate glow and lift, while our Pro Calm is more suited for our more sensitized clients who may struggle with conditions such as eczema or psoriasis and can restore the skin and calm inflammation.

We have also recently added more advanced services. We now offer Microneedling and have received many client requests about this service! This service is ideal for people struggling with scarring, hyperpigmentation and signs of aging. And for a more non-invasive option to this treatment, we also offer Nanoneedling to target uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. Finally, we recently introduced our Dermalogica with Hydrafacial service.

with so many options, how can someone determine what facial is right for them?

For more advanced treatments, we schedule a Face Mapping appointment via virtual consultation so that we can properly assess whether or not they are a good candidate for the treatment. Still, you want to ensure clients are mindful of considerations like pregnancy, topical prescriptions or certain health conditions. Ultimately, we always recommend booking a  free consultation to get started so that we can create a unique skin care plan catered to a client's each and every need.

so what is the HydraFacial anyway? And how does it work?

Our HydraFacial is a non-invasive treatment that uses patented technology to cleanse, extract and hydrate the skin—I know, it does a lot. In just 30 minutes, clients can have brighter, smoother, more hydrated skin. It's super customizable with various boosters, add-ons and upgrades, so it's easy for our clients to tailor a treatment specific to what they're looking for.

It uses what we call "vortex technology" to gently extract superficial blackheads and congestion while simultaneously pushing nourishing serums into the skin. We go a step further by adding in manual extractions if needed, a targeted masque and our line of products.

how often should people be getting this treatment done?

This answer depends on the client, so I'd recommend setting up a consultation with your Professional Skin Therapist to ensure that your treatment plan works for your skin. But in a more general sense, HydraFacials can be done as frequently as every 2-3 weeks.

how can someone maintain the results of a HydraFacial through home care?

Keeping the skin hydrated and nourished is key. I recommend our Skin Hydrating Masque and Circular Hydration Serum to further amplify your skin's hydration and glow between appointments.
